Philadelphia: Lippincott's, 1896. Lithographic poster for January 1896, THE 30TH YEAR. Colors in blue, orange, and yellow. Measuring 14 1/2" x 17". In a conservation frame. This poster shows a gentleman clad in a blue suit and bow-tie seated in an overstuffed chair reading a copy of Lippincott's Magazine. He is smoking a cigarette and his feet are resting on a small table. The poster is by J.J. Gould, a Philadelphia artist, who worked as poster designer for Lippincott between 1895 and 1897. His work was influenced by another great American designer, Edward Penfield. Minor extremity wear only. Colors are vibrant.. (Inventory #: 011975)
