New York and London: Harper and Brothers, 1899. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. Expertly rebacked using the original boards with the original spine laid down over modern grey cloth. Tan title to green spine and white title to illustrated front cover. Includes all pages; however, they have been bound out of order with the title page in the rear and the other pages in an odd order. (The glue holding the original binding together was very brittle, so many copies of this book have come disbound. The page numbers are printed in a very light yellow, so presumably the binder didn't see them when he was putting this book back together.) The text on each page stands alone and does not form a narrative, so the odd page order doesn't negatively impact the reading of this book. Minor fraying and wear to edges of original boards and spine. Minor foxing and a few spots of discoloration to covers and minor browning to spine. Illustrated endpapers. Interior is clean and bright overall with occasional light / small smudge marks. Chipping to edges and corners of a few pages. 46 pages. CHILD/020618. (Inventory #: 31722)
