Lumberton, NC: Lumbee Publishing Co. (Freeman Printing Co., Lumberton), 1909. Fourth edition. 8vo. 192 pp. Illustrated from photographs, portrait. First published in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1875, this history of one of North Carolina's notorious post-Civil War outlaw gangs, was reprinted in Weldon, N.C., in 1895; the edition offered here is called the fourth edition in its introductory matter, but we know of no other than those three. Thornton 9505. OCLC partially conflates copies with online versions, locating 20 or so copies (10 at one institution, UNC-CH), but it's the most common of the three editions; we've sold at least a half dozen copies and only one each of the two earlier editions. Still a good solid copy. Original printed and decorated tan wrappers (rubbed, spine ends eroded, some separation at lower front joint). (9328). (Inventory #: 62571)
