[Buffalo, N. Y.: n. p., ca. 1941]. First edition.. Somewhat soiled and toned and a bit worn; a few small closed tears to the wrappers; in very good condition.. Small 8vo, original color pictorial wrappers, 32 pages. A typical promotional pamphlet, more attractive than most, from the longtime Buffalo patent medicine firm, under the guiding hand of the son of the late Dr. R. V. Pierce; the firm specialized in female complaints. The inside front wrapper touts 60 years of the Invalids Hotel and Surgical Institute, which had been rebuilt in 1881; Dr. V. M. Mott (who died in 1942) is listed among the staff. The few bits of astrological lore and palmistry are rather swamped by ample testimonials and by advertisements for various Dr. Pierce products and services, all tending toward ìpepî and nerves and scientific vigor. (Inventory #: 18348)
First editions in 19th and early 20th century eccentric religious movements, popular entertainments, popular medicine, literature and Americana. Books and pamphlets bought and sold.
