In a very near fine unclipped dust jacket with a 1 1/2" closed tear at the lower edge of the front panel and very shallow (1/8") chipping at the lower edge of the spine area. 414 pages including an index and text. Illustrated with numerous black and white photographic plates. The sixth volume published in this series. All nine volumes in the series were under the general editorship of Roderick Peattie with contributions from a number of writers. Carol Fitzgerald in her valuable bibliography Series American, states on page 251 of Volume I that "no evidence found that Vanguard reprinted The Berkshires."
