Fly leave boldly signed by pianist and music educator Télémaque Lambrino (1878-1930), and dated Odessa, 27 mars (March) 1895. Fly leaf at rear with the bold inscription "Odessa" in ink.
This scarce work contains 30 full-page wood engravings depicting the characters featured in Gogol's 1842 masterpiece "Death Souls."
All wood engraving after illustrations by Russian artist Petr Boklevsky, are captioned at lower margin.
Sporadic rubbing and soiling to binding. Previous owner's signature at upper margin of title page (not affecting lettering). Text and captions in Russian. Binding in overall good, interior in very good condition. (Inventory #: 43563)
