From the collection of Kurt Enoch, who founded the New American Library and its literary arm, Signet Books in 1948. From the beginning, Enoch asked his authors to inscribe their Signets to him. Over the next two decades the collection grew to more than 1000 paperbacks, each of which had been signed or inscribed to him. This copy, that has to be one of a kind, is Signet #S1415 is inscribed by Shelby Foote on the title page, "Kurt Enoch / with regards from / Shelby Foote / May 1957." Foote's long piece is 'Pillar of Fire.' Also includes stories by Wm Faulkner, MacKinlay Kantor, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Stephen Crane, Thomas Wolfe and Ambrose Bierce.
