Pages age-toned, extremities worn and chipped, still very good with the ownership signature of poet Daniel Hoffman as a gift from R.L. Rusk, 1953 with Hoffman's penciled underlining and marginalia throughout. Rusk taught English at the University of the Philippines, 1912-1914. Ralph Leslie Rusk was a Professor Emeritus of American Literature at Columbia University, New York, New York. In 1950, he was the first winner of the National Book Award for Nonfiction for *The Life of Ralph Waldo Emerson*, published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1949. Laid in is an invitation with a handwritten message from another writer Richard Burgin and addressed to Daniel Hoffman. Part of the Great Writers Series.
