Houston, Texas: The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, 1903. Sheet Music; Sheet music. Six pages including front and back covers. Very good: bright cover, some surface losses to the coating on covers, a couple of jagged closed tears and some staining on the outer edge of back cover, not affecting text. Stunning cover imagery highlights this sheet music written by an accomplished female Texas author. Lee Cohen Harby had a number of essays, short stories, and poems published in popular 19th century periodicals such as Godey's Magazine and Frank Leslie's Illustrated Weekly Newspaper. Her lyrics to the item offered here, which became the official state flag song, won her $100 from the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
