First edition. Thirteen biographies of famous men (and one woman!), illustrated with four hand-colored copperplate engravings, with the woman being => Frances Maria, whose exceptionally dramatic plate shows her "saving her Brother from the Wolves."
Binding: Excellent retrospective sprinkled calf by Wallis, covers with double gilt ruled border, raised bands, gilt spine extra; stone pattern endpapers. All edges gilt.
