Nina is apparently the main character's [Edward Granville] lover. PROVENANCE: Gretchen Adamson (nee Davidson) was a Broadway actress (c. 1925-2002) who performed in The Return of the Vagabond (1940), The American Way (1939), and Many Mansions (1937-1938). Her husband, Harold Adamson (1948-1990), was a lyricist whose work appeared in As the Girls Go (1948-1949), Banjo Eyes (1941-1942), Singin' the Blues (1931), Earl Carroll's Vanities (1931), and Smiles (1930-1931).
