Philadelphia
Philadelphia: United Water Improvement Company. Good. Scarce tract on the need to purify water for health reasons, and a consideration of the various means used to accomplish it. Circa 1910. (Stamped date of 1911 on cover, and dated letter reprinted within with date of 1909.) 4to. 22 by 15 cm. 32 pp., including cover. No copies located on OCLC or elsewhere. The brochure strikes us as prescient, as in its points about various approaches taken to improve water consumption, such as a warning against bottled water. Advocated is the use of ozone, or oxidation. Discussed too are the medical perils of impure water, such as typhoid fever. Cover soiled, with three very minor edge chips. With several ex-lib markings -- blindstamping by Franklin Institute, and several ink stamps and an inked number. Internally clean.
