[xxiv], 452 pages of text, followed by [xvi] of index, etc. Original full leather (mottled French calf) binding with minor shelfwear including rubbing to the extremities. Illustrated with 13 of 14 fold-out plates (lacking plate V) and numerous in-text woodcuts. Several plates have had tears repaired, and two plates have small tears. There are a few tiny stains to the title page. The text is clean and unmarked. Arranged in three parts encompassing the management, layout and culture of plants in a Baroque flower and shrubbery garden. An invaluable resource regarding the contemporary practice of implements used, and of the flowers, herbs, shrubs and fruit tree selection and planting. The first edition was printed in 1704.
