Large 4to. Philadelphia [etc.]: Hubbard Bros, [1873?]. Large 4to, 112 pp. of sample text in English and German, 24 sample plates plus a leaf for family portraits, blank subscriber leaves at the end. Full brown morocco deeply embossed and stamped in gold, back cover colored black as a variant, gilt top, two forms of a gilt backstrip on the pastedowns. A good example of a salesman’s dummy. Salesman’s dummies are uncommon and in this case it was not used to record a single sale. It shows all the formats and ways the Bible could be ordered. As it was published nation-wide with an imprint that includes Philadelphia, Boston, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Detroit, and Davenport, complete copies are easily available but we did not locate another copy of a salesman’s dummy copy. (Inventory #: 110655)
