The second, containing the Lives of the Apostles, with an enumeration, and some brief remarks upon their first successors in the five great Apostolical Churches; by William Cave, D.D. Chaplain in ordinary to His Majesty. by whom also is added an Apparatus, or discourse introductory to the whole work, concerning the three great dispensations of the Church, Patriarchal, Mosaical and Evangelical. Mounted frontispiece, [8]pp., 1-176pp. (errata) (1)pp. publisher's catalog. Published as a continuation of Jeremy Taylor's Antiquitates Christianae by William Cave. Illustrated with tipped-in frontispiece(?) 30 individual plates(two per chapter heading) and one large double page "tree of life" which includes all the saints and churches throughout the world. Bound in contemporary calf, raised bands, red morocco spine label gilt, short splits to head and tail, wear to corners and bands, early previous owner's names and dates, short closed tear to lower margin of first page. Internally clean without foxing. A very good copy of this scarce work.
