A very good set, the front covers with several pale stains. FIRST EDITIONS of the official Senate documents prepared in the case to censure Joseph McCarthy. The second volume is extensively illustratred with reproductions of original documents. On December 2, 1954, the Senate voted to censure the senator by a vote of 67 to 22. He was one of the few senators ever so disciplined. The only senator not on record was John F. Kennedy, then hospitalized for back surgery. After his censure, McCarthy continued his senatorial duties for two and a half years, but his status as a major public figure was ruined. (Inventory #: 403970)
