New York: Ferris & Brown, 1866. An 11" x 10 3/4" ornately decorated perpetual calendar promoted by Continental Insurance Co. The design includes a double volvelle with a grommet at center. The smaller or green wheel is the days which are exposed through the day of the week holes. They are controlled with a metal slide at the base of the calendar. The month at top is changed by applying your thumb and forefinger to the die-cut month opening in the front and back of the calendar and manually moving it. The information on the surface of the calendar all references the insurance company including a circular table of it's officers and directors and cash assets. The reverse is blank. Moderate wear.
