Fine Deeply Embossed Paper Boudoir or Trinket Box with Hidden Message within Rancontre Desire

c1820. A polished stock box 2 1/4" in diameter. The light stock box is wrapped in green polished paper with the exception of the top of the box lid which is a deeply embossed red scallop shell. The interior of the box is blank with the exception of a a deeply and intricately embossed scene of two women in diaphanous running to embrace in what appears to be a secret liaison. It is captioned "Rancontre Desire". No maker noted. (Inventory #: 28006206)
