by Abbott, Claude Colleer
London: Jonathan Cape, 1946. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. One of the forgotten poet's of the First World War, Abbott (1889-1971) is perhaps best known for his scholarly work as an editor of the papers of James Boswell, Gerald Manley Hopkins, and others. This collection of verse includes poems inspired by his service as a private with the Artists' Rifles. Inscribed by Abbott on the front flyleaf, with a greeting card signed by Abbott laid in. Additionally, laid in is a typed letter signed (TLS) from Abbott's nephew informing the recipient of the poet's death. Octavo. Original blue cloth binding, with silver titles. The dust jacket is lightly browned along the extremities, with a tiny chip to the spine heel; otherwise very good.
