Large engraved architectural plate of Palladio's original design for the Vill Pisani at Bangolo in the Veneto region near Venice. Planned for the Pisani family, a rich family of Venetian nobles, it was built in the 1540s and represents Palladio's first villa designed for a patrician family of Venice. modified version of his design was published in his classic work Four BookS o Architecture (1570). The cross section shows the intended main villa with it open courtyard surrounded by a classic Doric portico (Plate VII in volume 2). Scamozzi's plan as published in his opus magnus of all of Palladio's works, L Fabbriche e i Disegni di Andrea Palladio in four volumes (1776-1783), shows t completed design for the courtyard which was demolished in the nineteenth century.
