Bound in full black morocco double ruled in gilt, slightly raised bands decorated in a floral gilt, lettering gilt, gilt decorated turn-ins, marbled endpapers. Baynard R. Hall was Indiana University's Seminary first instructor. After resigning in 1831. He later spent the remainder of his career in the east, working as a college teacher. In 1843 he wrote The New Purchase, a memoir of his Indiana life. A handsome copy, near fine with contemporary owner's name. [Howes 48].
