While the author claimed it was a novel, its descriptions of early pioneer travel through the American Northwest; chiefly that of Minnesota have been proven to be accurate. 24 pages of advertisements in the back are for books, railroad lines, hotels, insurance companies, steamships, real estate brokers, etc. The book is in unusually bright condition bound in green cloth lettered and decorated in gilt and blind, pictorial gilt spine, all edges gilt.
