(price-clipped) [no discernible wear to book, tiny bookseller's rubber-stamped name at bottom corner of ffep, brief annotation facing cast page (see notes); jacket has a couple of itsy-bitsy tears at base of spine, light soiling to rear panel]. (B&W photographs) The popular musical, basis for the incredibly popular film of the same name. Although this particular printing dates from 1968 (several years after the release of the movie), it retains the front-panel illustration of a photograph from the original Broadway production, featuring Mary Martin et al. Note that the character name "Elsa Schraeder" is circled lightly in ink in the cast list at the front of the book, with a handwritten note on the facing page indicating that the book once belonged to the actress who played the role in the first national touring company of the show in 1961-62.
