The Suspension of Dr. V. T McGillycuddy, United States Indian Agent, :ine Ridge Agency, DAK. [drop title]
by INDIAN RIGHTS ASSOCIATION.
Philadelphia: [The Association], July 1886. . 8vo, printed wrappers. Institutionally common, scarce in trade.Dr. Valentine Trant McGillycuddy (1849Ð1939) was suspended from his position as Agent at the Pine Ridge Agency by order of the President in Washington. His suspension was due to his refusing to accept a new Chief Clerk while his own one was still in situ and had been very satisfactory. The Association is very much behind him, pointing out that he has been an outstanding agent, surgeon and surveyor in the Indian territory for many years.McGillyguddy treated Crazy Horse after he was stabbed and had a very good relationship with Native Americans who called him "Wasicu Wakan" which in Lakota means "Holy White Man".
