1921·New York and Pasadena, California
by Sinclair, Upton, editor
New York and Pasadena, California: Upton Sinclair, 1921. Pamphlet. A very abridged version, the original weighs in at 800 pages; this is 32p., a fragile pamphlet in 8.5x5.5 inch plain printed wraps, one of Haldeman-Julius' large series, i.e., larger than his Little Blue Book series which measure only 5x3.5 inches. A fair-only copy; the smallpoint text is fully legible and the textblock is soundly fastened, but the staples are disheartenly rusted, with migration to paper they contact. Covers are smudged and faintly foxed. As is; but the real selling point here are the three ephemeral pieces laid in, all Haldeman-Julius related: one double-sided leaflet advertised 50-cent LBBs, a second touts 20-centers or "any 10 for $2" and a third, a small handbill listing no titles (only subjects) forty books for $3 (last catagory explained: "These are very slightly damaged books. Our warehouse roof collapsed" Digest 22.
