New York: The Macaulay Company, 1928. Cloth. Very Good +/Good +. The 1928 1st edition of this love song to --and detailed history of-- the dog. Clean and VG+ in its beige cloth, with fragile (but still perfectly sturdy) inner hinges. And in a bright, Good+ only example of the elusive pictorial dustjacket. The flaps are detached (and laid into the book) and another 2 to 3% of the dustjacket (mostly along the folds) is missing. Very light chipping as well at the spine crown but, still, presentable and handsome. Thick octavo, dozens of black-and-white illustrations thruout. Introduction by the formidable Albert Payson Terhune. (Inventory #: 16334)
