by COLMAN, RONALD
London, (1920s). Still sealed under glass In the original large presentation gilt-tooled brown leather frame with which the photograph was presented to his cinematographer Roy F. Overbaugh and his wife Marjorie. A terrific large handsome close-up portrait, Colman has inscribed the image: “To my good friends, Roy & Marjorie, wishing them all happiness and success, Ronnie Colman”’. The viewable image is approximately 9 3/4 inches wide by 12 1/2 inches tall, overall in the frame it measures 12 3/4 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches tall. The image has some slight bit of occasional oxidizing and a crease in the upper left hand section of the photograph, very good condition. Roy A. Overbaugh photographed Colman’s two noted silent films, The White Sister, and Romola, both co-starring Lillian Gish and both directed by Henry King. The leather frame is rubbed and used but has a great vintage look. The rear of the frame is stamped in gold with what appears to the British photographer, Walter Jones, of Sloane Street West, London.
