This report was designed to promote the emigration of free persons of color to the African colony of Liberia. The American Colonization Society was formed in 1817. The colony of Liberia was founded in 1821. Henry Clay was elected President of the Society at it's January, 1850 annual meeting. (Inventory #: 15023)
