Rebacked, moderately rubbed, joints cracked, corners bumped, covers slightly splayed, ink annotations & previous owner's signature at front pastedown, occasional annotations in the margins, very occasional underlining, a couple of leaves with small losses in the margins not affecting text, a bit toned & lightly foxed, a Good or better copy. Quarto (11.5" x 7.5"), , 444, 36, &  pages (erratically paginated, as usual), profusely illustrated with woodcut depicting coats of arms. Contemporary full calf decorated in gilt on the spine & paneled in blind on the covers, the spine in six compartments separated by raised bands, with a later gilt-lettered spine label. This copy rebacked (not recently) preserving the original spine & replacing the first & last blank page & rear pastedown.
First published in 1610, Guillim's exhaustive treatise, still in general use, is described by William Thomas Lowndes as "the best of that kind that was ever published.”
