Ledger
1866 · Oneida
by [Oneida, New York] [Militia Ledgers]
Oneida, 1866. Ledger. Very good. 3 Ledgers. Approx. 13.25 x 8 inches. 32 pages each. Original marble paper covers and paper spine. Minor chipping at extremities. A few small creases to the corners. Spines professionally resewn,. Ledgers almost completely filled with a few unused pages. These ledgers were originally used, as the title implies, as a record of delinquent members of the local (Oneida, NY) regimental district. At some point in the later 1800s and early 1900s, the ledgers were repurposed by someone compiling local history from the Oneida Sachem (newspaper) and possibly other sources. Original delinquent members names have been preserved, and the successive users of the ledgers have utilized the unused space on the pages. Several names listed. A good primary source of local genealogy.
