Title a bit soiled, rebacked with paper, faint waterstaining, old manuscript inscription on title, printing flaw on f.113 [P1] with four words partly supplied in manuscript. Occasional marginalia. RARE. Very good. Ceneau was a French Catholic theologian and historian. After graduating from the Sorbonne in 1513, he served successively as Bishop of Vence, Riez, and Avranches. He was a vigorous antagonist of the reformation and sought to repress "Lutheranism". This work is on the history of weights and measures in France "with a view to encourage uniformity." – Martin Bucer p. xii. The fifth part deals with the calculation and use of the abacus [f.57].
