A children's travelogue from the Spectacle for Young Eyes series by Sarah W. Lander (1810–72) that allows => young travelers to see the culture, the people, and the geographic offerings of cities around the world; this volume in the series covers Berlin, Germany. Lander conveys travel information through characters that educate each other on the city's history and share stories.
Many picturesque wood engravings, both in-text and as plates, illustrate the city and its traditions. The wood-engraved title-page, which appears in other volumes of the series, features a pair of glasses, and scenes of adventure and travel through the lenses. Publisher's brown cloth with gilt decoration to spine, blind-embossed border to boards; spot of discoloration to front board, spine lightly faded, light rubbing to corners, small stain to bottom edge. Interior lightly age-toned, foxing to frontispiece's protective tissue, occasional spotting, infrequent staining at the fore-edge of leaves. Quite nice! (Inventory #: 39929)
