Grand Rapids MI; (1966): William B. Eerdmans. Quarto. 64 pages. Facsimiles of title pages, illustrations. Strand was a noted scholar on early German translations of the Bible. While it was Martin Luther's translation of the Bible in 1534 (the New Testament translation in 1522) that became the standard for German readers, there were actually 14 earlier version in German before him. A very important item that was issued in a small print run. Sorg, Koberger and Schonsperger. Bound in light blue cloth, spine lettering gilt, previous owner's name, a very good copy in very good dust jacket with light wear to edges. (Inventory #: 027102)
