"Unfortunately, little biographical information seems to exist on Bertrand Zadig…He was a well-known illustrator of books (particularly in the medium of the woodcut). Some of his illustrations may be found in such books as Critical Woodcuts (1926) and Twelve Portraits of the French Revolution (1928). For a number of years, Bertrand Zadig also worked as a free-lance artist for the New Yorker and other major magazines" (artoftheprint.com).
