Lape was a famous internationalist and proponent of the World Court. She was a political ally of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and a close friend of Eleanor Roosevelt. PROVENANCE: Basil O'Connor (1892-1972) was a close associate of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He was a co-founder of two foundations funding polio treatment and research, and was President of the American Red Cross from 1945-1950.
