Ex-library copy with blind perforated stamp from "Enoch Pratt Library Baltimore" on the title page and pages 3 and 4. Library markings on the copyright page. Front and rear covers lightly edge chipped. Interior contents in very good condition. This copy is inscribed by the previous owner Major Peter Valentine Hagner, at the top of the outer wrap. Register sections include General Officers, Quartermaster's Department, Subsistence Department, Medical Department, Pay Department, Corps of Engineers, Corps of Topographical Engineers, Ordinance Department, Military Storekeepers, Dragoons, Cavalry Regiments, Mounted Riflemen, Artillery and Infantry Regiments, and more. First two Generals listed are Major General Winfield Scott and future President Zachary Taylor. The previous owner of this register, Major Hagner, enlisted in the Army in 1851 as a Captain.
