Norman Dane Vaughan (1905-2005) was a dog sled driver that was selected by Richard Byrd for the 'Little America' Expedition (1928-30) to the Bay of Whales in Antarctica. He also participated in search and rescues during World War II and in the Iditarod Trail Dog Sled race. In September 2000, Vaughan participated in a ecotourism conference with Tim Warren, a noted promoter of ecotourism in Alaska. Trapper Creek is the southern gateway to Denali National Park (Mt. McKinley).
