Frontisportrait and eight photogravure portrait plates with tissue guard. Text printed in two columns, printed in red and black with green borders. Initials, ornaments and title-page especially designed for this book by Dard Hunter. Typography by Charles Rosen. Spine slightly toned, minor soiling to boards. A very good copy. Alice Moore Hubbard (1861-1915) was a suffragist, writer, and a leading figure in the Roycroft Movement. She met Elbert Hubbard while he was still married and they had a controversial affair. Alice marched in the first Washington D.C. suffragist parade on March 3rd, 1913. While on a voyage to Europe, she and Elbert died in the sinking of the RMS Lusitania. Life Lessons features essays about Susan B. Anthony, Mary Wollstonecraft, Frederich Froebel, David Swing, Robert Louis Stevenson, Henry D. Thoreau, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
