[Bound with the same author's]. Aristodemo, tragedia ... Parma: Dalla Stamperia Reale, 1787. 8vo. , 118, [2 (blank)] pp.
Three Bodoni volumes in one: the first and second parts of Versi, each with a separate title-page, and the five-act tragedy Aristodemo (often found together with the Versi). The author's poems — if not his politics — were much acclaimed in their day, while Aristodemo won a gold medal from the Duke of Parma. These early works from Monti (1754–1828), a leading light of Italian neoclassicism, appear here in their first (Versi) and second (Aristodemo) editions from the Stamperia Reale under Bodoni's direction.
Versi: Brooks 331; Giani, 30 (p. 91). Aristodemo: Brooks 332; Brunet, III, 1867; Giani, 31 (p. 92). Modern half green calf and textured cream and light green paper–covered boards, leather edges ruled in gilt, spine with gilt-stamped publication information and dot ornaments; spine sunned to light brown and its gilding now appearing as "silver"! A solid, clean copy. (Inventory #: 40134)
