Large Oblong Octavo. 221pp. Original white wraps in original photo-illustrated stiff dust wrapper, protected by modern mylar. Wegman's intention was to become a painter and he received a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1967. He obtained his first teaching job immediately after leaving the University of Illinois in 1967. Wegman became known for his series of compositions involving his dogs Man Ray, Fay Ray and her litter Battina, Crooky and Chundo. Wegman's work was included in such seminal exhibitions as "When Attitudes Become Form," one of Harald Szeemann's groundbreaking exhibitions, and Documenta 5, where Szeemann had become the youngest artistic director in 1972.
The publication includes b/w offset reproductions of photographs of Wegman works and photographs from the periods in Madison, Milwaukee and Minneapolis: 1969-1970, San Bernadino, San Pedro: 1970-71, Santa Monica: 1971-72, East Hampton, New York City: 1972, and the portfolio Man Ray. List of solo and group exhibitions, and a catalog of videotapes at rear. Mylar slightly fogged. DJ with light wear along edges. Block with bump at lower left corner of back cover, decreasing inwardly and not affecting images. Dustjacket and interior in overall very good condition. (Inventory #: 45867)
