Washington: Government Printing Office. Very Good. Color map of Indian Territory in very good condition. Map was once bound into "Annual Report of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution, Showing the Operations, Expenditures, and Condition of the Institution to July, 1885 - Part II" and was published at the Government Printing Office, Washington, 1886. This map was once part of Wallace Stegner's library, although it is not marked as such. Map is folded and measures 25 ¼" x 33". Within the margin it reads, "To accompany George Catlin Indian Gallery by Thomas Donaldson"; no content on verso. Map has light toning to a few fold lines, and minor glue and paper residue where once bound into volume. The bright colors of the map delineate Indian reservations, and other features include the name of the tribe that occupied the area, townships, roads, military reservations, and the treaty or enacting legislation date of the creation of the reservation and its corresponding location within the volume. A nicely preserved map with good association. . (Inventory #: 019283)
