by Ellis, Havelock, et al.; edited by Dr. A. Forbath
New York: Liveright Publishing Corporation. Fine in Very Good+ dj. (c.1938). First Edition. Hardcover. [no discernible wear to book, vintage bookseller's label (The Seven Arts, Carmel) on rear pastedown; jacket shows a bit of wear along the top edge, and there's a small but rugged tear-hole near the top of the spine, slightly affecting the printed title thereon]. A collection of essays purporting to offer "the answer to every question of sex you have ever asked, as well as to those you have always hesitated to ask." (And now we know from where Dr. David Reuben paraphrased the title of his popular 1969 treatise on exactly the same subjects.) This was the last book "by Havelock Ellis" to appear during his lifetime (his autobiography, "My Life," was published posthumously in late 1939), although it's pretty obvious that the publishers were just using his name for its marquee value, since only one of the 22 pieces in the book is by him (and that's probably on old one, to boot, although there are no bibliographic citations for any of the book's articles). Other contributors (each one either a Dr. or a Prof.) are: Julian Huxley, Wilhelm Stekel, S. Sörensen, F. Vidal, Elisabeth Sloan Chesser, P. Orlovski, A. Forbath, Paul Gartner, W. Foerster, and H. Rohleder. . (Inventory #: 24814)
