First edition. 12mo; 215pp; mint green cloth over board, stamped in dark green with a vignette of children reading to front; bright orange and white endpapers with children and a dog; ownership in pencil to fpd; b&w illustrated frontispiece and one plate; light dust-soiling; unclipped color illustrated dust jacket, small closed tears & edge chips, light shelf soiling and sunning; near fine in good plus dj. Laura Lee Hope was the pseudonym for the writers at Stratemeyer Syndicate. At least none of their staff writers, including several in the Stratemeyer family wrote for the series. Grosset & Dunlap began publishing the books around 1913. (Inventory #: 595)
