The Tomb of Siphtah; The Monkey Tomb and the Gold Tomb
by Theodore M. Davis/Gaston Maspero
London: Archibald Constable and Co, 1908. Cloth. Very Good +. E. Harold Jones. A handsome, well-preserved copy of the 1908 1st edition. Tight and VG+ in its olive-green cloth, with bright, completely unrubbed gilt-titling along the front panel and spine. Very light wear at the tips, just a touch of light foxing to the preliminaries. Elegant, Art Decoish bookplate (designed by FL Fox) at the front pastedown; otherwise, very clean internally, with no writing or markings to speak of. Folio, 29 illustrations (a number of them in rich color) plus 3 full-page plans complement the text. And, in addition to the principal texts, there's also "The Excavations of 1905-1907" by Edward Ayrton and "Catalogue of the Objects Discovered" by George Daressy. (Inventory #: 17593)
