Signed and inscribed by Raymond Rohauer to American editor, publisher, and designer Dean Mullaney whose Eclipse Enterprises, founded in 1977, was one of the earliest independent comic-book companies. Inscribed: “To Dean Mullaney, From one true Keaton lover to Another. All my best, Raymond Rohauer, October 2, 1981”. With Mullaney’s bookplate. Illustrated with over 1,000 frame-by-frame blow ups from Keaton’s films, with each photo taken directly from his original films. Oversize format, 8 1/2” x 10 5/8”, 256 pages. A slightly dust soiled copy with some edge wear and minor creasing to the spine in wrappers. Raymond Rohauer (1924 - 1987) was a film curator at the Gallery of Modern Art in New York. Beginning his collection at a young age, Mr. Rohauer went on to found the Hollywood Film Society whose members included such notables as D.W. Griffith, Fritz Lang, and Jean Renoir. Rohauer also established meaningful partnerships with Buster Keaton (rescuing some of Keaton’s silent films from being lost), Mrs. Harry Langdon, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., and others committed to the distribution and restorations of features and shorts that went unseen for many years.
