West was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1926 and has primarily been in the field of radio broadcasting, first as a news reporter, later as a program director and station manager. His first poem was written at the age of 11 and he has been writing poetry ever since, although he is not prolific. In fact, most of his poems appear in this volume. For ten years he taught creative writing in poetry at Cleveland College of Case-Western Reserve University, later joining with former students to form the Tangent Poetry Quarterly. He has also served as president of the Ohio Poetry Society and the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. Recently he has turned to the teaching of film history and aesthetics, and has even written and directed a feature length film, The Wednesday Children, written a novel, The Steel Mirror, and is planning a history of Soviet film... He also serves as minister in the Westerfield Center Universalist Church. (Inventory #: 2294333)
