The book features a series of love letters to a married woman. In the letters, the unnamed narrator confesses to misusing a client's funds and announces his plans to kill himself. But in the final letter [SPOILER ALERT] he discovers a way to save himself.The book was written in 1906 but not published until 1924, the year of Conrad's death.
