by Phillpotts, Eden
New York: The Macmillan Company. Near Fine in Very Good+ dj. 1929. First Edition. Hardcover. [very nice copy with virtually no wear to book; jacket is lightly soiled, a bit of wear along top and bottom edges, bottom corner of front flap (not price) clipped] Yet another of this astoundingly prolific author's novels, set (as are many, many others) in the Devonshire countryside. The title character is abandoned by her mother as an infant, then has her life get very complicated at the age of seventeen, when her father suddenly comes back into her life. Over the course of a half-century, Phillpotts turned out three or four novels a year; Agatha Christie was an admirer, as was Jorge Luis Borges. And somewhere out there, I think there must be an Eden Phillpotts collector or two (perhaps even a Phillpotts Society!), that would really appreciate this lovely copy. . (Inventory #: 19752)
