Sewall Company were shipbuilders based in Bath, ME, a town of shipbuilders. They built 10 steel ships between 1894 and 1903. A well crafted history of this important company. Signed by author. Shows ownership signature of "Howard A. Flynn - Sailor's Snug Harbor". Captain Howard A. Flynn was Governor of Snug Harbor. Sailors Snug Harbor was the first and only home for retired merchant seamen in the history of the United States, when it opened in 1833. A rather scarce and important history with a very pleasing pedigree. Light shelf/edge wear, light fraying at heel, possible regluing of spine, light toning of gilt at spine, bookseller notation at front pastedown, tape ghost at title page, obit of author tipped in at title page, ownership signature (see below), light foxing at title page, else tight, bright and unmarred.
