by Davis, William T.
Philadelphia: J.W.Lewis & Co., 1885. The author was the former president of the Pilgrim Society. In his introduction, he notes that while Bradford and others record the entire Pilgrim history, he has felt the "want" of "a concise, yet comprehensive, sketch of the Pilgrim movement, its origin, its growth, its development, and of the settlement at Plymouth to which it finally led;". It is a thorough-going history of Plymouth itself, which the author felt was to some extent passed over in the larger and more extensive histories. There are, in the appendix, many lists: to wit: The Revoljutionary Privateers from Plymouth, List of seceders from the First Church in1743 to the Third Church, in Middle Street, and also listed are 135 named ponds in Plymouth, with the explanation that there "are about forty other small ponds without well-recognized names". The binding is flecked but the text is tight and clean. All edges red sprinkled. . First Edition. Cloth. Fair/NoDJ. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Genealogy and History. (Inventory #: WN7094)
